Essay / Should the United States enter the Great War? - 948
The Great War, later known as World War I (WWI), was considered the first modern war and was fought between two alliances of nations. World War I is considered the first modern war due to the advancements in weapons and the size of the armies and navies used in this war, such as machine guns, poison gas, hand grenades, tanks, submarines and planes. The two alliances of nations were the Allies and the Central Powers. The Allies consist of Britain, France, Russia, Serbia, Luxembourg, Ireland, Romania, Greece, Belgium (after Germany despised its neutrality and invaded his country to reach France), Montenegro, Portugal, Albania and Italy (after 1915). The Central Powers include Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire. Should the United States enter the Great War and fight alongside its alliances? It can be said that the United States should enter the war. There are many pieces of evidence or events that will support the United States entering World War I. During World War I, a German official named Zimmermann sent a telegram to a German ambassador in Mexico, but the telegram was intercepted by the British and sent to the United States. The message never reached Mexico. The message states: “We intend to begin unrestricted submarine warfare on February 1. Despite this, we will endeavor to maintain the neutrality of the United States of America. If that fails, we submit to Mexico a proposal for an alliance on the following basis: waging war together, making peace together, generous financial support, and an understanding on our part that Mexico must reconquer the lost territory in Texas and New Mexico. , and Arizona. This part of the message basically says that Germany is the cause of the unrest...... middle of paper ...... features were dug in to protect the soldiers from the powerful, rapid-firing machine guns of the enemy. It depends if you want to be protected from enemy fire and kill enemies for your country and die with honor, or die instantly without protection or honor. In conclusion, although the United States claimed neutrality when the war began, so did Belgium. And yet, Belgium's right to neutrality was violated, just as the United States' right to neutrality was violated. In response to the violation of the right to neutrality, Belgium joins the Allies and wishes to defeat Germany. Therefore, why can't the United States do the same as Belgium and join the Allies in World War I? With all of this supporting evidence supporting the United States entering the war, you can now understand why the United States should enter the Great (World) War. First War) despite others saying we should not enter.
