Client Population I am interested in several populations, but possible preferences include families experiencing domestic violence and those with disabilities. Working with families who have experienced domestic violence is of interest because in the past I had friends whose family faced domestic violence and the impact could clearly affect everyone in the family. Seeing the difference made by those who worked to support their families, this population was a preference. Another population that could be favored is people with disabilities. Interest in helping people with disabilities began with the opening of a faculty called Edelweiss. Until then, I had had no interaction with those who led lives different from mine. Over the year spent volunteering, the changes in those who had taken lessons became evident. Being able to see the accomplishments of those who have taken lessons has made this a continuing interest. In recent years, a new facet of this interest has emerged. There is someone who is a close friend of mine who is disabled due to seizures and has had problems with his employers. Seeing how she was treated made it even clearer that this population needed help and sparked continued interest professionally and personally. work with.There was a year spent volunteering at Edelweiss Equine Assisted Therapy Group Inc. During 2008, several tasks were performed at the outdoor facilities that housed Edleweiss. While I worked at Edelweiss, three several activities took place. Working one-on-one with clients is something that remains to be experienced and learning from these assessments and intake interviews would be beneficial when entering the social work field. Working with groups and helping to create action plans for clients are two activities that have been covered in class, but have never been applied in a professional setting. Working with those who know what is required when developing action plans and working with groups will be helpful as there is a certain method and code of behavior expected of a social worker. In order to better serve customers when they enter the field, it is important to have a more complete knowledge of these activities and learning from those who have experience will be of great help..
