In the 1920s, people couldn't even spread information about birth control. Today, it is compulsory to teach it to students aged 12 and over. Sometimes society is not enough to disseminate information, which is why it distributes contraceptives to adolescents without asking parental consent. But without Margaret's fight to make birth control accessible to women, we wouldn't even be able to tell students about it. Margaret Sanger thinks birth control should be legalized for married women. Margaret Sanger believed that women should have the right to decide what they can and have nothing to do with their bodies. Margaret saw her mother die at a very young age, after raising 11 children. “The turning point in her life occurred when one of her patients, to whom her doctor had refused information about contraception, died following the birth of her fifth child” (Margaret Sanger). This single example opened Margaret's eyes and inspired her to fight for the right to birth control. (Intro to 2nd quote). “Moral and sexual balance in civilization will only be established through the assertion and expression of power on the part of a woman” (Margaret Sanger promotes birth control...). (Explanation on the 2nd quote). According to Sanger, “a woman's power can only be expressed and felt when she refuses to give birth to unwanted children who will be exploited in industry and massacred in wars” (Margaret Sanger Promotes Birth Control…). Basically, she's saying that it's a really bad idea for women to bring a child into a cruel and unforgiving world, especially when they're not wanted on this planet in the first place. (Fence). Not only was Sanger's speech compelling, but it was also revolutionary for that time in history. Until she witnesses the death of... middle of paper... told one way or another” (Margaret Sanger promotes birth control…). Women are not toys. Men can't be expected to do what they are told and if you think you are wrong. People thought it was okay to treat women like objects and Margaret clearly did not agree with that. “We are alive and intelligent, we are women as well as men, and we must awaken to the essential awareness that we are living beings…” (Margaret Sanger promotes birth control..). By making this comment, Margaret is urging women to open their eyes and realize that they have value. That they should have the right to decide what they want with their lives and their unborn children. Margaret Sanger is a credible source not only because she spent her entire life researching and fighting to legalize birth control, but also because she had life-changing experiences that influenced the creation of his speech..
