Essay / Careers in Law Enforcement - 1878
Law enforcement is a very broad idea or world, if you will, which until recently I believed was composed only of police and bad people. We, as part-time primitive sociologists or, better yet, part-time observers of people, might assume that this aspect of thinking dates from years of watching television as teenagers and only knowing what Hollywood portrays them as law enforcement. Presumably, this is the catch-all excuse for why most individuals' assumptions are the way they are. But eventually we grow up, mature, and begin to rationalize how the world works. I hope the vast majority of people realize that we don't live in Hollywood and not every type of law enforcement makes for a great action-packed Terminator movie. Although law enforcement fundamentally pits good guys against bad guys, we know that there is a defined and obvious range of categorical differences in this area. Let's look specifically at the Loss Prevention, Game Warden or Conservation Agent and United State Marshals Service career paths. Until I sat down to contemplate all the options available to me as a potential employee in this new world, I truly had no idea of the vastness of law enforcement; This is very difficult to understand without the help of research. The search helps find a fairytale career for those interested in law enforcement. The phrase “law enforcement” should be a good indicator that this area is much more complex than many people realize; Law enforcement goes beyond the idea that police officers enforce laws put in place by the people and governing bodies we elect. Through my extensive recent research, I have seen a multitude of potential new doors to pass through middle of paper...... and make your way to the purest areas of our country (Delong). However, I was excited to see that the fast-paced action of the deputy work that I love and the biology and nature of being a game warden and conservation officer can be combined into one career. Ultimately, I discovered that there are many paths recruiting can take once you graduate from a law enforcement academy. Each directorate is as different and unique as the person holding the position. While we know there are a multitude of directions each of us could potentially take in law enforcement, there are a number of similarities in each of our future careers. Knowing this, it is necessary for law enforcement as a whole to protect the family and look out for all the brothers and sisters we serve with. Personally, I believe a career as a game warden or conservation officer calls to me.
