In one year, seventeen million barrels of gas are consumed for the production of plastic bottles. That's the equivalent of powering a million cars for an entire year. All this fuel is used only for the production of plastic! Including water transportation and refrigeration, fifty million barrels of gas are used. If you filled your water bottle a quarter full with gas, that would equal the amount used to create it. With all this gas consumed, the earth's air becomes more and more polluted. The smog is piling up. More than two million people die every year from poor air quality. Especially in areas concentrated with people, dirty air becomes denser and less habitable, which is partly due to the amount of gas used to create plastic water.
