  • Essay / Analysis of the interview and the Central Park Five

A woman was raped in Central Park and found unconscious. She recovered quickly after the incident but could not remember what happened that day. The same day this woman was raped, all five teenagers were there, but in the opposite direction from where the rape occurred. They were brought in by police for questioning and questioning over the incident. The police were questioning the teenagers and yelling at them because they were frustrated at not getting the answers they wanted to hear from them. The teens were tired of being interrogated for about two days about something they knew nothing about and just wanted to leave the area. The police told them to say certain things and told them things they wanted to hear, leading the teens to believe that if they said what the police told them, they would be able to leave. They eventually confessed to raping the woman on video and paper, leading to their arrest. Even though there was no real evidence proving their presence at the scene, it didn't matter because the police just wanted a confession, which was their goal all along.
