Using corn as cow feed has created a new strain of E-coli that can be deadly. Many companies that deal with the slaughter and packaging of beef do not appear to take any precautions to prevent further contamination of the meat. As the film shows, many chemicals, such as GMOs, are introduced into the market in order to help preserve food. As consumers, we don't often think about the chemicals in our food. A huge amount of highly processed foods are found in grocery stores across the country. As time goes by, it seems that our daily lives move forward quickly. The majority of American families do not have time to prepare a healthy, balanced meal three times a day. Therefore, many people turn to these overly processed foods, like McDonalds, in order to satisfy both their hunger and appetite. In the film, we meet a family who, due to their busy schedules, do not have the time or income to consume healthier foods. Due to their high consumption of processed foods, they faced health problems. The father suffers from diabetes and spends approximately $130 on medication. When we take into account the low cost of fast food and the expense of treating its long-term effects, it is clear that eating processed foods causes considerable harm to both health and a person's state of health.
