  • Essay / Compare and Contrast Brothers Grimm and Perrault

In Little Tom Thumb, a man and his wife had seven sons, the youngest and smallest being Tom Thumb. When the parents ran out of money, they decided to abandon the boys in the woods. This happened twice. The second time, they couldn't find their way home, but they came across a house they wanted to stay in. They needed protection from wolves who could potentially eat them during the night. This house belonged to an ogre and his wife. The woman snuck the boys in and tried to convince the ogre not to eat them. He initially agreed, but at night he accidentally killed his seven daughters instead of the boys, all thanks to little Tom Thumb who tricked him. Tom Thumb and his brothers ran away the next day and tricked the ogre's wife into giving him all their wealth that he was bringing home.
