  • Essay / My experience: my different experiences in high school

Color Guard was the extracurricular program that had the most impact on my life. Color Guard taught me to be punctual because there were multiple practices and performances that depended on my attendance or the show was ruined. Also during my senior year of Color Guard, I was Captain of the Guard. I had to develop leadership responsibilities because there were unanswered questions and no directors to find. Especially in the last season, because our director had an incredible job opportunity and had to move to Arizona. After that, it was the captain's responsibility to organize the practices and improve us before our final competitions. The first practice we had without our director, we had to figure out how to come in, provide our own music, and start warm-ups immediately. The other two captains and I struggled early in the season, but as the end approached we had enough leadership skills to have a full practice without directors or staff.
