Essay / Career Choice for Pediatric Residency Program
Pediatrics is an exciting and challenging field that I consider to be the only career choice for me. My interest in the discipline was strengthened during the basic internship in pediatrics, when I was particularly attracted by the privileged bond between the pediatrician, the patient and the parents, while working for the best result. I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Aleppo in Syria with a very good general average. Then, I was accepted into the pediatric residency program at Damascus Children's University Hospital, which was the only tertiary pediatric center in the country. Eventually, in 2001, I became the youngest registered pediatrician in Syria. Subsequently, I worked in primary, secondary and tertiary centers, in Syria and Saudi Arabia until 2013. In 2014, I joined the McMaster NICU as a clinical researcher, where I improved my neonatal technical skills and became familiar with the Canadian healthcare system. .I believe a pediatrician should be an advocate for all children and an educator who provides anticipatory guidance to help parents enjoy the process of raising their children....
