I think the coercive power of senior male subordinates in an organization, for example, can cause extreme fears among female workers, especially in American culture because of the stereotypical perception that women should be very respectful to their men. Additionally, junior employees fear sanctions from seniors and may avoid conflicts with these individuals. On a personal level, employees who exercise this type of power through their rank generally instill fear among their subordinates (Rahim, 2011).
