    The devil is a supernatural being considered by society and Christians as an entity of pure evil. Although there is no hard evidence proving the existence of the devil, there are certainly many accounts of people claiming to have seen hell. So let's say hypothetically that the devil really exists. If that were the case, that would mean that these horrific accounts are actually true, which might lead one to wonder why people even call themselves Satanists. Contrary to what one might think, Satanists do not believe that the devil is some kind of pure evil, nor do they consider him to be a real person. Satanists view the devil as a true deity or force to whom one must worship and to whom one must pay complete allegiance. Amazingly, people began claiming to have sold their souls to the devil before the first satanic church existed. Anton LaVay first created “The Church of Satan on April 30, 1966,” but that’s not where the idea of ​​selling one’s soul came from (Barton 1).
