New Employee Orientation ProgramDetermine at least three (3) objectives with measurable criteria for the orientation program. New employee orientation sessions are conducted to help new recruits quickly adapt and understand their new work environment. in order to become a productive member of the organization. New employee orientations are designed to train and prepare employees to perform their jobs effectively, learn about the organization, and build working relationships (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2014). In order to keep new employees excited and motivated about their new position, many companies provide information about benefits, available training programs, confirm that the new hire is eligible for work, collect payroll information, and determine deductions from employee benefits. Organizations like to ensure that programs are efficient, effective, and serve a purpose that meets the organization's goals and objectives. A common organizational metric for determining whether a program is worth it is return on investment (ROI). A study could be conducted among new employees, among those who attended new employee orientation, compared to those who did not attend. A well-designed orientation program, whether it lasts one day or six months, will not only contribute to employee retention, but also productivity (Brown, 2014). This study could measure whether there is a correlation between orientation and employee turnover, a measure of work productivity or a measure of work quality. Organizations want to be efficient and save time. In this case, the organization could measure the effectiveness of the material taught.
