Observing a Video SegmentI chose to focus on the company meeting for this week's discussion. The questions chosen to focus my observation concerned participant roles: “Do meeting participants play/fulfill distinct roles throughout the meeting? Since no guidelines and/or information were available regarding the content or purpose of the meeting, I decided to focus on the participants rather than other aspects. The Observation The video shows a nondescript conference room with gray walls, blue carpet, a brown conference table, and large leather chairs. Two paintings representing landscapes hang in the background. Beneath them, two filing cabinets (brown and white) and a file cart are visible. Six people are seated around the table, two women on the left, a man at the end of the table, followed by a woman and a man on the right. Another man, who appears to the leader or facilitator, is seated at the end of the table.
