Essay / Gaming Observations - 1032
At 1:15 Saturday afternoon, I'm currently hanging out at the student gaming center with the pool tables and a row of arcades in front of me. At least nine to twelve players are gathered around 2 arcade machines in front of me. The two main popular models of interest would be the Street Fighter 3rd Strike and Marvel vs Capcom 2 machines. Gamers are very busy watching and cheering for the players. I observe four players playing on two separate machines. The players who were losing to him are very agitated, as noted, as they swear loudly and intense profanities are used directly and indirectly towards said game and the winning player. The first interview I conducted was with the player who was on the street. Fighter 3rd Strike Machine where I asked him if he could take a few minutes to answer a few questions for a research study I was conducting. The interview took place at one of the dining tables located just outside the student center, next to the food stalls. Interview time was Saturday around 5 p.m...
