Why do totalitarian leaders force children to live away from their families? Anthem, Ayn Rand's powerful and exceptional short story, focuses on a totalitarian society where individualism is punished by those in power. , and hard work is neglected. People are not allowed to think about themselves or pursue their goals. Families are prohibited. When babies are born, they are immediately taken from their parents and placed in an infant home, where they learn the values of society. They will never know who their family is. The company is run by a group of people who strictly apply these values. In many of the fictional and real totalitarian societies we talk about today, dictators force children to live apart from their families. This is done for three reasons.
