Explain what is meant by the term special educational needs? Special educational needs (SEN) is a legal term referring to any condition, disability or syndrome that affects a child. or the young person's ability to learn. Some children with SEN need help with everything they do at school and at home, while others only need help in certain areas. Children who have special educational needs due to a physical, learning or social disability may need support in areas such as reading, writing, communication and comprehension, as well as in areas such as rules, routines and organization. Discuss the signs that may indicate that a child has SEN. Some signs of SEN may not be as obvious as the visible signs of a physical disability. Learning difficulties can often be difficult to identify. This may be especially true during the early stages of development.
