However, this does not mean that the grounds of the argument are sound. There are three traditional ways of approaching the argument from reasonable disbelief. This is the Freedom Response, which states that “God hides Himself in order to allow people to freely love, trust, and obey God.” The Appropriate Motivational Response, which simply states that "God hides himself in order to discourage human response based on improper motivations." And Divine Purposes responds: "God restricts divine manifestations, at least for a time, to at least some humans in order to enhance the satisfaction of God's various moral, serious, and loving purposes concerning
