The way they prepare the food may be different. In the United States, we have a variety of ways to prepare our meats instead of just grilling and simmering them. In the United States, we can fry, grill, boil, or bake our meats. In the United States, we mostly eat soul food at big holidays or Sunday dinners instead of eating at a big dinner every night like it is in Africa. Once soul food became Americanized, it became one of the most consumed foods in America. African Americans went from simply cooking for the families who owned them to preparing food for the soul of an entire city. Most African Americans now use soul food businesses. But during the era of slavery, many African American women were street vendors and sold their food. Some sold enough possessions, saved, and bought freedom. Since Africans brought soul food to our country, the food has tasted better. Nothing has really changed except the way they season and prepare the
