In Homer's Odyssey, I believe that Odysseus is a true modern hero. During his long and perilous journey home, Odysseus demonstrates many heroic qualities that help save his men from many dangerous situations. He first shows his valiant behavior during the Trojan War, he cares for his crew and survives the war. He also cares deeply for the well-being of his men on their journey back to Ithaca. Odysseus is a hero because he is a courageous leader, a keen thinker, and a modest man. Odysseus is a courageous leader as he saves his crew in battle on several occasions.
