  • Essay / What is the relationship between Benedick and Beatrice...

Much Ado About Nothing presents a picturesque love story between two characters who meet us as hate-filled individuals and leave us as an inseparable couple. These two characters are Benedick and Beatrice and act for us as lovers who have fallen deeply and passionately in love in a way that we would all fantasize about too slowly, then all at once. Their relationship in Shakespeare's play was presented through their matching characteristics, the way they speak and the way the language was written to show their affection, the events that happen to bring them together, the other people that influence a link, the links between the way Shakespeare presented love in his other plays and finally the different versions of this representation through cinematic and theatrical productions. Much Ado About Nothing shows us the difference between perfect love and perfect love and also depicts the social hierarchy at the time of the play through characters doing things out of honor and reputation, not because it is the right thing to do. The title of the play plays a huge role in representing Shakespeare's ideas, as there is nothing like the word "note" - slang for gossip and so it is ideal as the play is entirely "Much Ado About gossip.” Indeed, the characters have false knowledge and create an aggravation of fabricated rumors. We can tell from the beginning of the play that Beatrice and Benedick are perfect for each other, simply by their matching characteristics and a similar level of intellect, which is a perfect basis for marriage. They are both astute, evident through their skill in twisting the words of others, loyal demonstrated by the fact that Benedick does not kill Claudio and Beatrice never doubts the hero, ...... middle of paper... ...g every time Don John entered creating a powerful and dramatic atmosphere. On the contrary, I prefer to read the play because Shakespeare wrote a play known for its language and it is better to read and understand the language so that you can direct it yourself rather than watching an unoriginal version. Therefore, the different methods of staging the play are all vital to the portrayal of love as they create a different environment and seeing the characters live and interacting with them, reading and using our imagination, takes a whole new experience of feeling love. In conclusion, the character traits, language, events, Claudio and Hero, comparison to other Shakespearean plays, and unique variations in performance are all essential aspects to the depiction of Beatrice and Benedick's love in Much Ado About Nothing..
