Abortion is a topic that many do not want to discuss. It's a very personal decision that many women must make every day, but in some states, having an abortion becomes an even more difficult process. Not only did women have to decide whether to abort, which in itself is a difficult choice, but they now had to wait 24 hours, minors had to obtain consent and/or inform the father of the child. But after all this process, what if a woman cannot receive all this? Would she be deprived of her right to abortion? The Supreme Court case, Planned Parenthood of PA v. Casey, was not known for what she had done, but mainly for what she had not done, namely not overturning Roe v. Wade, but reaffirm a woman's right to abortion; it questioned a state's right to impose or impose an "undue burden" on women. Planned Parenthood of PA v. Casey was argued on April 22, 1992, and the official decision was made on June 29, 1992. The case involved some of the "hot topics", including privacy and abortion. At the time, Pennsylvania had passed a new abortion control law in 1988, which was finalized in 1989. This law required all women to obtain informed consent and wait twenty-four hours before being allowed to have an abortion. As for minors, they also had to obtain the consent of a parent/legal guardian and married women had to indicate that their spouse was aware of their decision. However, after this provision was passed, many doctors as well as abortion clinics challenged it, believing that it was not fair for the state to have so much power over a woman's body, when Roe v. Wade gave a woman the right to an abortion.
