The negative attitude Americans have toward these countries is not accidental. Recently, the CIA announced its involvement in Operation Ajax, an incident that resulted in the metaphorical isolation of Iran in 1954. The details are always important. Essentially, Iran, under its Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh, was attempting to nationalize an oil industry that the British had helped build after their "involvement" in Iranian politics after the First World War. Mosaddegh had intended to audit the British oil company that had access to Iranian oil reserves, and at that time Britain and the United States joined together to boycott Iranian oil. To gain support from its citizens, the United States declared Iran a communist country. Meanwhile, the relatively new CIA has appointed General Zahedi, a former World War II war criminal, to the newly available position of Prime Minister (Ghosh). America has access to oil reserves, and Americans have a bad taste in their mouths about what Iran is.
