  • Essay / Media Super Models - 764

Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen, to name a few, are some of the most beautiful super models in the world. They make their living by being beautiful and inaccessible. Perfectly applied makeup, designer clothes draped over slim hips and bony shoulders. The coiffed hair was teased and piled high on their posh, entitled heads. Lights! Camera! Action! This is normal in this beauty industry. So how does a Burger King burger fall into the super model category? I guess you could say there are several similarities between a super model and a BK burger. For example, there is an entourage of professionals who beautify super models as well as BK hamburgers. Did you know that food stylists are professionally trained and can earn up to $750 per day? Can you imagine being paid $750 a day to disguise food and place it “just right” on a tray? There are producers, art directors, lighting assistants, camera assistants and prop masters who arrive at least two hours before a typical photo shoot. Shooting food requires a lot of detail. On the day of the shoot, the props and decor are laid out and all food ingredients are made available to the stylist upon arrival. The most important aspect of filming is making sure the burger gets the right lighting. Food can be very colorful and textured, but if the lighting is incorrect, the burger can appear flat and dull. Lighting really tells a story. This speaks to the character of the food. The lighting also expresses what Burger King is trying to sell; a beautifully finished product. The hamburger patty is purposely undercooked so it doesn't shrink causing it to hang in the middle of paper...... self esteem watching the media bombardment of fast food ads and the definition of handsome in the beauty industry. These pressures often result in poorly developed eating habits, increasing the risks of obesity or the development of eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia. As a society, we take our cues from the media on how to live, what to wear, and what to eat. In conclusion, it could be said that there are many similarities between super models and the BK burger. At the beginning of their career, they are pampered, pampered, dressed, photographed and sought after by everyone. But in the end, when they are old, dried out and no longer desirable, they are thrown into the trash. Like a piece of meat. Works Cited Green, Joey. “Beauty and the Beef”.
