How wonderful that since 1926 (Balf), one of the only elements of what will define a scholar, including his intelligence and creativity, and will single-handedly determine his destiny for the rest of his life in this 21st century... happens to be a multiple choice test covering only mathematical and literary skills? Not to mention that the “Scholastic Aptitude Test” barely measures “IQ” or skills, but how much one studies and prepares in advance! Furthermore, at least for a few, it may come down to nothing more than a simple measure of endurance and concentration. From experience, I remember that its ten jumbled sections became disorienting and exhausting after four hours, and afterward I was exhausted and almost unable to get through the rest of the day. Now, what happens when this irrelevant test changes once again like in 2006 (Donnelly), and once again for the worse? In 2016, the SAT will undergo changes to become a 1,600 point test (up from 2,400 points previously) (Kaplan), too specific and, much to my annoyance, a test aligned with the Common Core. Unfortunately, these aren't the worst changes yet. The 2016 SAT change makes the College Board's standardized test even more useless and even hurtful to students, primarily due to the loss of verbose and "archaic" English vocabulary, an optional essay, and a reduced number of mathematical subjects. new SAT ports, that's how it will drop the words "decrepit". Students will no longer need to study; only a little sense of understanding through context will be needed. One of the reasons why this change should not be implemented is how it will change the way students study. As the College Board itself states: "Students will no longer use flashcards to memorize obscure words..."
