Interventions:1) Introduction of sugar taxes in several countries – population-based strategy; probably more effective than targeted high-risk strategies2) NZ: In New Zealand, Active Families is a nutrition and physical activity program for families of obese and overweight children. In addition to promoting physical activity, it helps families acquire nutrition knowledge and promotes healthy eating. This program is an example of a high-risk strategy as children and their families identified as at-risk (i.e., already obese or overweight) are referred by health professionals for intervention. According to Rose, one of the advantages of the high-risk strategy is that the intervention is “tailored to the individual.” In Working Families, the program is individualized according to the needs and situation of the child and family at risk. As a result, the child and family are more likely to be motivated to improve their diet and diet.
