    This is the most visible component of crime that exists. When street crimes occur, men are at higher risk of violent street crimes than women. Many people are afraid to walk on the street, especially at night, due to what we consider "stranger danger." Public spaces bring us into contact with people we don't know personally or have any relationship with. According to National Police crime statistics, they found that around two-thirds of murders, burglaries and sexual assaults occur in residential locations. Additionally, Victoria Police crime statistics for 2013-14 recorded assaults as the highest crime committed on the street, with a total of 46,912 cases. In 2011-2012, around 19% of women were attacked at their workplace or place of study and 8% were attacked in the street. In addition, 32% of women at their place of study or work have been threatened with assault. However, without crime being reported, it is difficult to distinguish which is more dangerous, the street or one's own home. Victims and the public have shown neither an increase nor a decrease in reporting crimes committed over the past decade.
