    The nervous system is made up of two parts which are then divided into several divisions, the central and the peripheral. As it goes deeper, the ring road is then also divided in two. The sensory division, which controls the senses, and the motor division, which controls how we move. The motor division is further separated into autonomic nervous and somatic nervous. The sympathetic is derived from the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for the flight or fight response. Then the parasympathetic which is responsible for rest and digestion responses. The four characteristics of the nervous system are complexity, integration, adaptability and electrochemical transmission. The complexity of the nervous system allows you to integrate and carry out the multitude of basic tasks you do every day. These are the nerve cells in the brain that allow you to speak, write, think, and sing and dance. Integration is what brings information together, it integrates information into our systems. It gives us a fundamental sense of the things around us, like our senses themselves. What we hear, see, taste, smell and feel. Adaptability is just the ability of the brain and nervous system to adapt to our environment. The flight or fight response is also involved in adaptability. There's no doubt that all four are important for the nervous system, but if I had to pick one to live without, it would be adaptability.
