Since the second Adolf Hitler became Chancellor, Germany has become a darker place. Germany was humiliated after World War I and Hitler wanted the world to understand that Germany was not weak and was not to blame for its problems. Hitler blamed Jews and those who did not fit his “elite race.” He started a genocide and when the world reacted, all they could do was save as many lives as possible because so many lives had already been lost. The nations of the world could have done much more to prevent the genocide and if they could not have prevented it, they could have stopped it sooner. But for several years, the world remained spectators. “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who stand by and do nothing. » –Albert Einstein According to the American Jewish Virtual Library, the press published articles describing the mistreatment in Germany of those who did not fit Adolf Hitler's "elite race," but the press buried them in the newspapers. For the government, they denied it because they did not have substantial evidence of the mistreatment and therefore left it unconfirmed ("Holocaust"). When the U.S. government obtained confirmed information about concentration camps, prison rooms, death row, and hash treatments, the government kept this information confidential. When British Prime Minister Winston Churchill decided to take a stand by bombing the Auschwitz extermination camp, he was ignored. If it had not been ignored and the railway lines leading to the camp had been bombed, it would have saved thousands of lives (“Holocaust”). Under pressure, President Roosevelt issued a statement denouncing the Nazi German government for its genocidal policies against the innocent people of Germany, Poland, Yugoslavia, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Greece,...... middle paper ......
