Essay / Integration of congestion control into BGP considering its...
IV. Research MethodologyFirst, implement a normal BGP topology in a multi-AS environment. The topology will consist of ten autonomous systems and BGP will have all possible paths from which the packet can be delivered from source to destination and will select the best path based on the path attributes. Then, simulate a congested BGP scenario by congesting a particular AS by continuously flooding the data flow and observe the traffic pattern causing delays and packet losses. To observe the traffic pattern, simulate different BGP congestion scenarios between peer, client-ISP and ISP acting as transit for other ISPs. Second, implement the topology on ITGURU using its built-in BGP module. Once the simulation is complete and the data is saved, analyze the various performance metrics such as average end-to-end delay, average packet loss rate, and average throughput. Process the data as necessary and graph the results before and after congestion using ITGURU or mathplotlib. Since then, congestion control is not supported in BGP; there are some mechanisms ...
