From the bombings, to the killings, to how young boys were conscripted to fight with weapons bigger than themselves, without much of a choice, and how lives were helplessly wasted. A Loaf of Bread piques your interest from the first poem you read and leaves you curious and asking deep questions, which impressed me greatly. One line that struck me in this collection was a heartbreaking conversation that ensued between a father and son. This father was turning pale and clearly suffering from discomfort which the son noticed and offered to take him to the doctor next door. His father's heartbreaking response was: "In war, my son, do doctors worry about indigestion?" They treat slaughtered children, reattaching fingers and stitching up uteruses. It really made me think about how much we take certain things for granted in peacetime and how difficult it can be to access them in war. This book was both moving and thought-provoking and if you can achieve that in poetry, I think you've done a great job as a writer. I liked how the themes correlated with each poem; which made it easy for the reader to get an idea of what to expect. It was also easy to understand the author's thought pattern, for which I commend the author. Additionally, the vivid descriptions that the author used in this book added to the thrills and chills that I felt while reading this book. For example, the following lines sparked my imagination, so much so that I could almost feel the effect of the act: “Mom, finally, we are going to eat something other than stones today. » Another element I liked about this book was the brevity of the text. the book as a whole, I liked how the message was conveyed easily and concisely. Additionally, the author's good use of punctuation helped emphasize and emphasize most of the points in the poem, making the poems enjoyable. This book is so great and a moving read that I can't find anything I don't like about it, and I'm not surprised that it has been the subject of several notable publications. A Loaf of Bread was clearly well edited and I think it deserves a 4 out of 4 star rating. Keep in mind: this is just a sample. Get a personalized article from our expert writers now.
