IntroductionWhen we were given the task of interviewing a manager; many questions and thoughts came to my mind. But the main thing we were worried about was “Who were we going to interview?” » We were fortunate to have a close connection within the group with Mr. John Doe; Nova Energy's National Field Retail Operations Manager. We decided to interview him in order to gain insight into what being a manager really entails on a professional and personal level and how we could become strong managers in the future.BackgroundWe chose to interview Mr. John Doe, from the National Retail Field. This also made it easier to arrange an interview with him, as he lives close to the university and does not have an office, which places constraints on his time. Another reason we chose Doe is that we thought it would be good to interview a manager from a company founded in New Zealand, as it gives us a relevant perspective and idea of what it's like to work in New Zealand as manager. We arranged our interview with Doe through his daughter who is a member of our group, he agreed and we booked an interview for Monday March 24th. Once the date was set, our group met beforehand and prepared basic open-ended questions so that the interview was structured, but also allowed Doe to develop freely. This organization proved helpful and we emerged as a cohesive, well-organized group, allowing us to gain vital insights into the day in the life of a manager.
