  • Essay / Entitlement programs helping people but hurting...

Many people view the United States as a land of opportunity where you can live happily and have the opportunity to achieve all your goals, regardless of your class or financial situation. This idea is made possible thanks to our government. But our government may not be able to provide as much help toward that dream if we continue to take on more debt. In my opinion we need to fund all these aid programs in America less so the rest of us can grow up and force others to take responsibility and grow up. Helping those who participate in the programs comes at a cost to our country. We have accumulated a colossal debt. This is due to many different factors, including government spending on assistance programs. These expenses were added to an already monumental debt. This creates a barrier to our ability to get out of debt. This obstacle lies in the aid programs. Those who participate in aid programs cannot afford to repay their taxes to the government. We are investing billions of dollars in programs to help citizens who cannot help themselves, in the hope that they will rise out of poverty, become viable citizens, and help pay their taxes. On paper, it's a great idea, but like many ideas, it has setbacks. Many citizens who we hope to get out of their situation do not. This is a problem because we now have more people receiving money than paying into the programs. If we reduce our funding of these programs, we can help slow the rate at which we accumulate debt. Even stars are taking the country's debt seriously, with star Matt Damon saying "we need to stop giving money away and start making money." Helping those who participate...... middle of paper ...... here some do The United States is a country where you can live happily and have the opportunity to achieve all your goals. This opportunity is given to us thanks to the help our government provides us; However, this may not stay that way due to the growing amount of debt. This figure is not decreasing due to overfunding of aid programs and increased pressure on businesses. We need to contact our government officials to tell them that we need to allocate less funds to aid programs and take these additional funds and give them to businesses to bring jobs back to the United States, otherwise we as a country will collapse . In conclusion, we need to reduce the weight of these programs and have strict qualifications on these programs, but this will not be done with this present, we will have to wait for a new one, hopefully we can keep the American dream alive..
