However, Marx is not the only one to have written about conflict theory. There have been many others. Among them was a sociologist named Max Weber. Weber viewed sociology as a scientific field dealing with social action. While Marx spoke of his version in regards to capitalism, Weber's version is very close to the general aspects of conflict theory. Another sociologist named Georg Simmel had his own version of conflict theory. Simmel saw individual interaction as the composition of society. He believed that conflict and harmony went hand in hand. Given the existence of multiple interpretations, conflict theory has attracted much criticism. Some believe that conflict theory takes the side of those who are oppressed and have no rights.
