Essay / Does becoming more connected really make us more isolated?
As we advance with the latest technologies that have improved communication beyond all limits over the past twenty years, there is a side effect that is becoming more and more problematic for our society in 2010 : the question of human isolation. As more and more adults take jobs that allow them to work from home and more and more young people grow up in a world where all social interactions outside of school are done via the Internet, where they are sitting at home in front of a computer. to see how I believe this so-called "communication revolution" has led to the isolation of individuals from today's society. Human beings are social animals and this solitary lifestyle can lead to adverse effects such as loneliness or inability to form relationships, even leading to clinical depression[key-1].If we look at two studies typical cases of how a world with such powerful communication technologies as email and instant messaging, today affects the way of life of people in the United Kingdom, we see cracks in everyday situations where can -being freed from the rat race of commuters has had drastic consequences. for this extremely social animal that is the human being. This revolution in communication technology has had a huge impact on today's workplace. This has many benefits for the employee, including not having to deal with daily travel to work, which not only saves time and money, but also stress. . middle of paper ......ology to isolate oneself from society either. To summarize, the technological advances of the last 20 years have completely changed the way our society functions in ways that could be detrimental to the population. I don't think a complete ban on these technologies would be a good idea, I do however think that people should be educated about the dangers of isolation and that children should be taught from a young age the importance of social interaction and the importance of being an active member of a community. I think in the next few years when this technology has been around longer and people have grown up with it and it becomes a more important part of our society, as I think it will unless there are measures are taken to prevent this, it will be interesting. to see if our modern social structures are adapting to allow this technology to be at the forefront of our daily lives.
