The film industry has many artists who bring different skills and talents to the making of a film. Although a film's success is largely due to the insight and opinion of the director (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2011), the help of everyone involved is important in making a cohesive and successful film. As with most stories they all begin with writing (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2011), it is the responsibility of the director to put on film what the visionary (screenwriter) has on paper and make it work for the audience by telling a story. Through the use of artists such as the director, set designer and art directors as well as many others; a film can offer audiences an escape from reality. Allowing for a short period in a person's busy life to experience a whole new world of relaxation and excitement through films. The Fast and the Furious film was a box office success in 2011 and grossed over $200 million (Gray 2011). The year 2011 was what the film industry calls a down year for cinema, so movie sequels in this case did not have a huge impact for this reason (Gray 2011). Nevertheless, the films were a huge success among moviegoers. The director of this film, Justin Lin, directed each of the Fast and Furious sagas. The exciting thing about this director is his extraordinary way of always adding different tones and style to each image. In all of the Fast Five movies, the focus was on speed and cars. Fast cars are not heavily featured in the film Fast Five; However, Director Lin added a new goal for all the main characters, to complete the heist and "stay alive". As director, Lin is responsible for making sure all the elements of the film come together as they should.... ... middle of paper ...... The scene took place in Rio, which takes audiences to a place many have never visited and gets their adrenaline pumping with all the music and action.
