Technology in Education As the world moves towards the 21st century, the types of innovative technologies are growing rapidly and evolving more than ever. Not only does technology, such as computers and personal devices like cell phones, tablets, etc., evolve and advance with the release of new applications, but this technology benefits daily life by making tasks easier. For example, having a banking app on your smartphone makes it easier to check savings and other accounts. Instead of going to the bank, you can get it on your cell phone. Aaron Smith, a researcher for the Pew Research Center's Internet Project, states that "eighty-five percent of American adults now own a cell phone" (Smith 2) and according to the US Census Bureau, the number of households with cell phones laptops has increased. from 36 percent to 71 percent between 1998 and 2005 (Edwards 1), and that only in 2005. Estimates of the number of cell phone owners worldwide approach around six billion people (Smith 2). Cell phones aren't the only technology growing. Other technologies like iPads, tablets and other personal devices make everyday tasks easier by increasing the rate of access to information. The role of technology is to help society make activities, such as searching for information, faster and easier. Due to the abundance of technology in our world, children grow up learning how to use these tools and expecting them to be a part of their daily lives, just as technology is becoming a crucial part of life daily life of their parents. This involves seeing and using different types of technology at school.
