BuddhaWith the birth of the Buddha, his choice as the “enlightened one” at thirty-five, his journey through life and even in his death. Buddha guided many people to discover the truths of life. Siddhartha Gautama became Buddha at the age of thirty-five (Graves 1). The Buddha is believed to have been born in 563 BC in what is now Nepal, but at the time part of India (1). The founder of Buddhism was the son of a chief of the mountain tribe of the Shakyas, who abandoned family life and became an ascetic around the age of twenty-nine (Bary 3). Legends say that as Queen Maya, mother of Buddha, reached her father's house, came out and Buddha emerged from her right side. Without any help, he took seven steps in each direction on the compass. Where he had bathed, lotus flowers grew everywhere, even though it was not the season. He announced: “I no longer have to endure births, for this is my last body. Now I will destroy and uproot by the roots the sorrow caused by births and deaths. Seven days after his birth, his mother died (Wangu 19). “One day, according to Buddhist tradition, Siddhartha realized that his years of penance had only weakened his body.” (Wangu 22). His body was so tired that he could no longer meditate properly. The scriptures say that he went to bathe in the river and the trees leaned down to help him. Buddha sat under a tree and did not get up until he found the answer he was looking for (Wangu 23). The Buddha performed an act of self-sacrifice. He had discovered the way to end suffering, so he wanted to share his enlightenment with others (Wangu 24). The fundamental condition of life is suffering. Suffering is caused by wants and desires. There is nirvana, the end of suffering. The path to Nirvana is to follow the “eightfold path”. (Graves 2) "The Eightfold Path is a series of eight steps that lead to the end of desire." (Wangu 26) Approximately 300 million Buddhists practice (Wangu 6). After Buddha found the answer he was looking for, he left for Saranth. There he thought of the people of his teachings. He drew all of life, which represents his teachings (Wangu 24). One day a blacksmith fed Buddha a meal, which made him ill (he was about eighty years old).).
