Essay / Theme of Life in Isolation in Films
I used the method of writing a film review in this assignment, on the theme “Life in Isolation”. In the movie “Shipwrecked” there are many things that need to be highlighted, but in this assignment I am going to talk about the “isolated life”, a life lived in total isolation almost for 4 years on an uninhabited island. Social isolation has been shown to impact health. It is therefore necessary to have social contacts. Having other people around who are appreciative and supportive can encourage appropriate behaviors, provide emotional support, and help a person cope with conditions. Loneliness is not simply being alone, but a psychological state that has characteristics of deep emptiness, worthlessness and personal threat, says John Cacioppo, director of the University of Chicago center. He points out that many of us crave solitude, but for some it would be a misery in different situations. The movie “Castaway” was directed by the famous director Robert Zemeckis. He is one of cinema's greatest visual storytellers. Some of the films he has directed are Romancing the Stone (1984), Science Fiction, Back to the Future Comedy, Live-action Animated Comedy Who Framed Roger Rabbit, etc. Say no to plagiarism. He chose to be stranded on a remote California island to force him to find food, water and shelter. Meanwhile, a volleyball washed up on the shore inspired the character in the film. The main stars of this film are TOM HANKS, HELEN HUNT AND NICK SEARCY. The film depicts a Federal Express employee stranded on an uninhabited island after his plane crashes in the Pacific Ocean, and his struggles to survive on the island, using the remains of the cargo he was carrying and which also wash up on the shore. . The film was released in 2000 to great critical and commercial success grossing $468 million worldwide and Hanks was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Male Role at the 73rd Academy Awards. The film is about Chuck Noland, a federal express engineer who travels around the world to solve the productivity of federal express depots. He is in a long-term relationship with Kelly Fears. At Christmas, when he comes to celebrate Christmas with his loved ones, he is called back to solve a problem in Malaysia. While flying to Malaysia, while experiencing a storm, the plane crashes into the Pacific Ocean. Chuck manages to take the help of the raft and unconsciously floats on the water and reaches an island. Once he wakes up, he explores the island and discovers that it is an uninhabited island. His busy, fast-paced life comes to a halt without knowing when he will return to the life he once knew. He begins opening Federal Express packages and uses them for his survival on the island. Since he has had no human contact, he befriends the volleyball he finds in the package. This film features a powerful character who struggles to survive on a remote island and return home after almost 3 years. Chuck Noland's character, stuck on the island, learns to live. He uses all the goods he finds in the passage to satisfy his basic needs. What I want to emphasize here is the need for social contact, or communion..
