  • Essay / Towards the conservation and restoration of the ecosystem for...

Conservation! Conservation! Conservation! It's the only thing I would do with passion. We owe it to our environment to be here today after all these millions of millennia. The same environment that many of us forget is one that will tenderly care for our descendants and all forms of life in generations to come. The state of the economy, GDP or trends will have no value if we do not take care of planet Earth. Since industrialization came into force in the late 18th century, it has affected households and led to a change in lifestyles. While this has made our jobs easier as human beings, it has become the main force behind the culture of consumerism and where we are today. We burn fuel to get around in our automobiles. We cut down trees to get wood and paper. People still use wood as fuel in the village I come from. The big question is how many people are taking their time to replace these trees. The United Nations estimates that 13 million hectares of forest disappear each year worldwide. Deforestation is linked to a quarter of anthropogenic carbon emissions. It affects biodiversity and natural water regulation. The Kyoto Protocol should be revised and even stricter measures should be put in place for countries with the highest carbon footprints. Politics should not come into play in such vital issues. Man, as the undisputed pioneer in manipulating the environment to meet his endless needs, has even manipulated the atmosphere by creating greenhouses to grow flowers and vegetables. Pollution of water sources by pesticides and chemical effluents continues. Mining is not left out. This pollutes the air and releases particles that harm living things. The human population is in... middle of paper ...... I also encourage my neighbors to do this. As someone who knows it relatively well in my village, I will emphasize recycling and people will be able to dispose of their waste in the recycling centers set up and stop throwing their waste anywhere. This will reduce pollution of the nearby river and main water source. Recycling will also bring employment opportunities to residents. Most importantly, it is my role to convince people to be personally responsible for their actions. George Adamson declared that human beings are the most destructive species that has ever existed on the face of planet Earth. I consider these feelings to be true but like him, I remain optimistic. It is on this basis that I choose to conserve the environment, not only for myself but to ensure that there is a place for future generations and through these small actions, I will have made this world better than the one in which I found..
