  • Essay / My Goal as a Teacher - 1047

The baseline is a starting point where growth or regression is measured based on research and an initial goal. In terms of effective leadership in special education, the baseline is where I currently stand as a teacher. My goal as a teacher is to move every aspect of my classroom to a better place than before. Whether it’s a student, a paraprofessional, a colleague, an administrative person or even my course. I want every aspect of my career to improve every year. Move as a unit and grow as a whole where no student, child, person or material is left behind. All aspects are thought through at the end of each day or week and changes are made. One way to grow in leadership is to put yourself in the shoes of the person or person you want to change. Get down on their level and show compassion. When it comes to students, one way to reach their level is to find out what they are passionate about. You can find out just by asking, talking to parents, or simply observing student preferences. To start the year, you want students to become aware of their strengths by completing a survey. This survey will in turn help students become aware of their weaknesses. By using their strengths to improve their weaknesses, learning becomes more enjoyable. Work together for a while, then allow the student to grow independently and spread their wings. This “I do, we do, you do” method may take a little longer to reach the ultimate goal, but with the goal in mind, it's completely work. When it comes to achieving big goals in life, the best things take time. I believe that education takes time. So, to get a student to learn from “point A” to “point B,” I walk with them and identify with them at their level. Nobody wants...... middle of paper ......amp organized by the College of Kinesiology. I was able to see their research put into practice and hear about their results. I was also able to learn more about their graduation requirements and learned how to incorporate some of their ideas into my curriculum. I want my students to always have an active mind. Having an active mind leads my students to be active in their learning inside and outside of the classroom. All of these things and actions help me become a leader in my field because there are times when teaching can become dark with behaviors or an overwhelming amount of paperwork. . Showing compassion and grace to a defeated neighbor or student is part of being a leader. When I am willing to understand where these behaviors or red tape come from, it gives me the ability to bring about the change and growth I need to get my student from “point A” to “point B ».”.
