Essay / Butterflies By Patria - 1287
Initially, Patria had always believed strongly in God, which made him ignore the prejudices that existed during Trujillo's reign, for example the people killed by the dictator (53). Patria had a stillborn baby, and the pain of losing a loved one led her to identify with the families who had lost their loved ones due to Trujillo's injustices (53). Suffering the pain of her loss, she lost her faith, which shifted Patria's beliefs from a God-centered view to a people-centered faith. The evolution of her faith is facilitated by her experience during the pilgrimage, when she heard Mary tell her to change her religious views towards people in need. It's because her whole life she focused on God and didn't serve Him.
