Essay / Build a Recreation Center - 687
Crucial Argument I believe our city needs to support building a recreation center rather than a detention center to reduce gang violence. We must not give up the opportunity to save young people in difficulty simply because we chose one establishment over another. The development of a detention center will add to the problem of gang violence here in this city. Our young people will benefit more from a recreational center where they will have the chance to use their energy in a positive way. The recreation center will create a socially stable environment in which to grow up. And it's safe to say that a recreation center is a much friendlier place than a detention center. Openness This may sound a bit cliché, but my intentions are good. I've seen this mistake made too many times for me to let it happen again. I am convinced that raising our city's problem today will lead to a solution tomorrow. Growing up, I came from the type of family that literally moved every six months. It exposed me to the diversity of our troubled youth that I speak about today, Neighborhood after neighborhood, I saw many die, Neighborhood after neighborhood, I saw children divided in the streets for no real reason, neighborhood after quarter, I was confused by the need to represent a red or blue color. Whether it is daycare or blood, it is gang violence that has dictated the lives of our young people, eating away at their innocence, eating away at the good of our youth. I've seen this happen too many times for it to happen again. I refuse to believe that there is no alternative to detention centers that only reinforce gang violence generation after generation. I refuse to allow my children to grow up in this violent environment; I refuse to let you all make... middle of paper ...... a home, an environment that promotes well-being not only for themselves but also for the community as a whole. Young people will recognize our efforts. to engage them in a recreation center that includes sports, hobbies, tutors, mentors and fun activities that will keep them coming back. Secondary benefits include peace of mind for all of us and a more united community, what else do we need?ProlepsisI know you may still be reluctant to accept that a leisure center is the answer. So let me tell you this. You probably think no! “You commit the crime, you pay the price” But these criminals were children! They deserve a second chance, they deserve an alternative to the streets and leisure does none of that. On the contrary, it pisses off the children, you put children in difficulty with other children in difficulty, my boy! It's a never ending cycle.
