All three perspectives focus on the treatment of the patient's disorder. However, the biological approach focuses more on treating the symptoms while the other two focus on treating the disorder itself. The humanist approach emphasizes the personal development of patients; the biological approach emphasizes the medical model. The sociocultural and humanistic view takes culture into account and applies group therapies, while the biological view focuses only on diagnosis, symptoms and response.
