    Both have become independent minds who think for themselves, form their own opinions, and can express themselves. They acquire their knowledge through true experience and not through perception which is not necessarily the truth. Rita has a real experience at the university while the three prisoners live inside the cave under a false perception. To learn we must be exposed to a learning environment, this is what Rita learns when she is mentored by Dr. Frank, while the escaped prisoner learned by experiencing the truth outside of the cave. Indeed, Albert Einstein's quote "the only source of knowledge is experience" supports the fact that Rita and the escaped prisoner could learn from experience. The other two prisoners inside the cave are experiencing a false reality and are unaware of their surroundings, so they do not have the chance to learn the truth and therefore do not believe what the escaped prisoner shares what 'he sees. Even though we like the two prisoners in the cave to question reality or truth, we must continue to accumulate new experiences and knowledge to develop our own individuality within society. In other words, you have to be willing to have new experiences and acquire new knowledge that will affect your thinking and your ability to speak for yourself.
