Essay / Are political Islam and democracy compatible? - 2175
“Are political Islam and democracy compatible? This question has long concerned Muslims and non-Muslims living in the East and the West. Contemporary Islamic political thought has been deeply influenced by attempts to reconcile Islam and democracy. Muslim thinkers engaged in political debates cannot ignore the importance of the democratic system, as it is the dominant theme of modern Western political thought. It is therefore necessary for any alternative political system, whether religious or secular, to explore its position in relation to democratic government. However, to simplify things and make them concrete in human reality, we see that we must remove certain things from the paths of democracy to seek justice, consultation, respect for human rights and oppose the tyranny of arrogant leaders before this date. Earth. All things considered, it can be said that although the term “democracy” alludes to different interpretations, it is not that foreign to Islam; Islam does not reject democracy as a political structure and as a concept of freedom (except its concept of the sovereignty of a single God)..
