  • Essay / Edgar Allan Poe: Signature of a genius - 883

Writing is the mirror of each person's personality. When we write, we reveal a part of ourselves. We reveal our spirit. We reveal our thoughts. If it is possible to exist, then it is possible to write, because to write is to think, and thoughts are to exist. This is especially true in the mind of Edgar Allan Poe, who, by writing repeatedly about his love and loss in both poetry and general prose, generates the story of his life. In these plays he not only creates original plots, but deep within the fabric of these plots arises a background world of Poe's own life, deeper than any allegory he produces or n no matter what poem he finishes. The dark recesses of Poe's mind are clearly depicted throughout his work. The experiences, mostly negative, are displayed like signs everywhere in each of his publications. Not everything is shown straight away, sometimes you have to look for a hidden meaning. Sometimes you have to think to understand the thought. Whether intended or not, Poe left his mark in “Annabel Lee,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” and “Eldorado,” all of which tell compelling stories. Many read the surface of Poe's bold tales, and not much else. There is a deeper meaning in the text that connects the dream world to reality. The life of Edgar Allan Poe can be summed up in a few words: death, love, loss, heartbreak and mystery. What better way to express this than through a poem? That’s exactly what Poe did in “Annabel Lee,” made famous for its flow and rhymes. The poem details the relationship between two young lovers. Annabel Lee is killed by the great envious angels of heaven in order to destroy the love between her and the narrator. However, this failure was obviously minor because their love still existed, and even though...... middle of paper ....... Regardless, the poem generalizes Poe's mysterious life quite well. In the final analysis, Edgar Allan Poe's work has more meanings than meets the eye. The tragic events and dark details of his life are transcribed on paper, not clearly, but hidden in each of his publications. His stories can be seen more as imprints than allegories: they are the imprints he left in the universe. His life story, all his experiences, good and bad, influenced his writing in one way or another. Today we can analyze this information and deduce facts about Poe's life, much like detectives uncovering clues about a forgotten past, but the past was not completely forgotten. Poe is gone now, but he is alive and well in our hearts today when we read his prose as well as his poetry. His bold and powerful words essentially represent the entire life of Edgar Allan Poe..
