  • Essay / Explaining Being Human in “Human” by Christina Perri

Symbolism is when the singer makes a word or phrases represent something entirely, while metaphor is when the singer refers to something without doing it physically. We see them as she tells us that she wants to please others and does not want to trample on others. She no longer wants to act like someone she's not. Instead, she admits that she has flaws, but won't continue in a role. “I can do it/ But I'm only human/ And I bleed when I fall” (13-15).
