Dynamic Character: Alby is a dynamic character in the Maze Runner story. The drastic changes that Alby underwent after the change are clearly apparent. He is a dynamic character because at the beginning of the story, he is kind and also strict and he is a leader who manages the Glade. After being bitten by the mourner and experiencing the change, he becomes very different. He doesn't want to be the leader and he becomes depressed, crazy and acts differently. It seems like he's becoming a whole new person. Static Character: I believe Chuck is the static character in the Maze Runner story. His character remains the same throughout the story. He remains funny, kind, friendly and loyal to Thomas. He helps Thomas when he arrives in the Glade. He always cared about Thomas and had a strong bond with him. He supported Thomas even though some people suspected him and ultimately, Chuck sacrificed his life to protect Thomas from being killed by the knife. Chuck is a static character because his loyalty, attitude, and character have remained the same throughout the story. Setting: The main setting of the story takes place in a mini society called Glade. We don't know where in the world the story takes place, we only know that it is called the Glade and that it is surrounded by a labyrinth that isolates society from the rest of the world. There is also no specific time, but one could assume and believe that it is in the future. The Glade is a society separated from the rest of the world and there is no way out. The clearing is located in the center of the maze and is surrounded by a maze in all four directions. It functions as a corporation and has farms, gardens, forests, cemeteries, buildings and a courtyard. He has a... middle of paper...... Omas' best friend in the Glade acts as a foil to Thomas. Thomas and Chuck develop a bond with each other and Chuck serves as a foil that really brings out Thomas' main character. Chuck often wonders what life would be like in the real world and really wishes they could find the way out of the maze so they could return to his real world. Thomas makes Chuck a promise that he will return Chuck to his old life. This promise and Chuck is what shows the reader the quality of Thomas, his determination and his will to achieve his goal. This shows how strong Thomas's friendship is and how he is able to sacrifice everything for his friend. Chuck also brings out Thomas' adventurous and courageous attitude towards the reader. I think Chuck is the main character of the story because he is the reason why Thomas' traits and personality are revealed to the readers of the Maze Runner..
