The usefulness of this new discipline in promoting real-world conservation issues is often debated, with some scientists arguing that the importance of animal behavior in conservation practices is overstated. Understanding conservation behavior is typically used to solve conservation problems for a single species. Biologists, who understand animal behavior as it applies to conservation, use a variety of approaches that can provide information to effectively manage a single species. It is important to note that many countries have environmental programs in place that focus only on individual species. Tourism based on free-roaming animals located in remote wilderness areas and natural parks is one of the fastest growing sectors of the tourism industry. This rapid growth in tourism is impacting wildlife around the world. These impacts are ongoing and lead to rapid modification of natural environments by humans, thereby increasing interaction between humans and wildlife.
